Transgender Actress Laverne Cox Is Glamour Magazine Woman Of The Year

Transgender actress, Laverne Cox, has shown that her dreams of making it to the top as a woman is way up

 in what may be described as breaking barriers and going places, a transgender actress, Laverne Cox, has made the list of strong, smart women changing the world, a list made by world leading female magazine, Glamour Magazine, alongside the likes of Lupita Nyong'o, Mindy Kaling, Chelsea Clinton and Samantha Power.

The Glamour Magazine ‘Woman of the Year’ award is an award that honors celebrities, politicians, local leaders and athletes for their powerful roles in influencing women everywhere.

Laverne Cox who was born a a boy named Marcus, changed her sex via surgery to become a woman, became the first ever openly transgender woman to be nominated for an Emmy since composer/musician, Angela Morley's last nomination in 1990.

Laverne who has a twin brother, is an American actress, reality television star, television producer, and LGBT advocate, and is best known for her portrayal of Sophia Burset on the Netflix television series Orange Is the New Black, which earned her the nomination.

Laverne Cox has certainly had a good year. Her portrayal of Sophia Burset on Orange is the New Black made the first transgender woman to ever make the cover of Time.
According to Glamour Magazine, they chose Laverne Cox because:
