The man was believed to have set off a bomb after he was caught disguised in female clothes
The mother of a man arrested on charges of terrorism in Kaduna has said that her son is not guilty of the crime he is accused of Mansir Yusuf was suspected of being behind the explosion which derailed the convoy of former president, Muhammadu Buhari in Kaduna. Buhari narrowly escaped with his life after which Yusuf was sighted in the crowd wearing female clothes and even a bra.He was arrested by soldiers on suspicion of being behind the bombing. However, his mother has said that her son is no terrorist but is instead suffering from a spiritual attack.
Zubeida Yusuf said:
“My son is not a terrorist.
What is wrong with him is an evil spiritual attack which is making
him to prefer women’s clothing and to act as one who is mentally
retarded.
Everyone in Mando knows that he only has a spiritual
condition that is making him to act strangely. “He often dresses
normal from home, but whenever he gets to an uncompleted building,
he would go in and change to the female clothes.
He usually carries
his bag. He has been taken to the Village Head several times and
has been flogged in the hope to cast away the spirits, but the
spirits have remained and have continued to torment him,”
She said
her son was home when the blast occurred but he went out to view
the aftermath like a lot of others did.
“My son said he was going
there too and I told him to stay at home. But he sneaked out, and
as usual he carried his bag with woman clothes and mobile phones.”
Reports have it that Yusuf only had in his possession clothes and
mobile phones when he was arrested. The Defence Headquarters had earlier issued a statement on Yusuf's arrest citing suspicions of his involvement in the July 23 bombing in Kaduna which was believed to be an assassination attempt on General Buhari's life.
